Inspired To Run: My Upcoming Book Series

Get Inspired To Run eBook

Back from Hiatus...

Apologies that my newsletters were scarce for the last month but it was necessary to focus on writing my first book series "Inspired To Run". In May, I am running my Thailand Fruit and Adventure Retreats so it was important to get of much of the books written in April as possible. The content now feels very close to being complete and what a journey it has been, but as a new author, I also respect that there is still a lot of ground to cover before the book series will be available!

Developing My Authoring Skills...

As I plan to write more books in the future, I figured I may as well go with the complete Do-It-Yourself self-publishing approach. I figured I will be able to utilize the newly developed skills for a lifetime. Most people "talk" about writing a book but never do, and I've certainly "talked" about it for longer than I planned. I am grateful to have finally taken the bold move of actually "writing" a book. I am grateful that I seized the opportunity to learn so many valuable skills in the process. I wrote the book about topics near and dear to my heart: 'Running' and 'Inspiration'

Creating Successful Books is not Easy...

To create a successful book, on some level, you need to have knowledge of the workings of the entire publishing industry. There are a multitude of different hats you need to wear as an author. Unfortunately, that means there are almost countless ways to destroy a good book if you don't wear all of those hats reasonably well. I am very happy with the results of my hard work and look forward to releasing the books in 2017.

I've Learned So Much...

In the last month I've learned about cover design, page layout, and eBook formats such as ePub and mobi. I have become master of eBook creation software including Sigil and Calibre, as well as eBook conversion software. I have researched audiobook requirements and recording techniques, distribution options, copyright laws in different countries, public domain and creative commons licenses. I've pondered the pros and cons of self-publishing, and the art of creating effective eBook metadata such as keywords and book description. I have improved my grasp on editing, version control, backup strategy, image file compression...I could go on. The point I am trying to make is that there is A LOT to wrap your head around when writing an eBook. The skills involved go way beyond simply capturing your thoughts, concepts, creativity, beliefs, experiences, and your overall message to the reader.

Get Inspired to Run...

I have studied the history of running while researching the running legends featured in this book series. There is enough inspiration in its pages to last a lifetime for runners and non-runners alike.

From Amazon Kindle ePub to Audiobook on iTunes...

I've produced the book series in ePub 3.0 format as supported by Amazon Kindle, Apple iBooks, Sony Reader, Google Books, Barnes & Noble Nook, and many more devices. I will also be creating it in other formats such as mobi, and will create it in Audiobook format, so expect to see it in iTunes in 2017.

Creating My Own Book Cover...

The featured image for this post is the current working book cover which I designed myself. I hope you like it. Let me know what you think.
